PECTIN MODULATES HEMATO-BIOCHEMICAL PARAMETER, HISTOPATHOLOGY, OXIDATIVE STRESS BIOMARKERS, CYTOKINES AND EXPRESSION OF HEPCIDN GENE IN LEAD INTOXICATED RATS

Publications concerning the protective effect of pectin against lead induced toxicity in rats are not available. In order to study such effect, 40 male were divided into 3 groups. The first group was contained 10 that kept as control group. second received at dose 100 mg/kg BW during experimental period (8 weeks). third 20 400mg/kg acetate daily for 4 weeks then two subgroups (3A and 3B). Subgroup 3A still receive same dosage whereas, subgroup B co-treated with another weeks. Blood samples collected after 2, 8 from start experiment. Liver, kidney bone marrows only end Lead anemia administration reflected on decreased values Hb, PCV, MCV, MCH MCHC. These indices remained lower levels treated groups until Concentrations serum ferritin, iron, total antioxidant capacity (TAC) reduced glutathione (GSH) expression hepatic hepcidin gene significantly intoxicated compared control.
